Home About Our Horses Rescues Adoption Happy Tails

Mary Mae

8-2-09 Mary Mae came with Miss Priss (below). She was an 18yr old Tenneseee Walking Horse. Their owners were moving to Ohio and couldn't take all the horses. She went to live with a wonderful family in Brooksville. She is ridden often, and is very spoiled. I speak with the family daily. They have become very good friends.

Miss Priss

8-2-09 Miss Priss came with Mary Mae (above). She was a spirited 8yr old Tennessee Walking Horse (Bay) who is now also living with a different family in Brooksville.

Stoner

This 11 year old 16.3h TB was just dropped off to us 7-9-09 with no info at all. He was very rideable and was adopted to a mother with a teenage daughter who rides. He has three acres of plush green grass, and is very happy.

Chrissy & Kate

These two appaloosa mares arrived 6-20-09. Chrissy was three years old and blind. It is believed that she was born blind. She is very small probably due to neglect as a foal. She arrived with Kate, her one year old sister. She is Chrissy's eyes. They go everywhere together. Blind horses can have a normal life. They just have to trust their owner.

Chrissy and Kate, both were adopted by a wonderful family in Plant City. They have many acres of green grass, and most importantly, they are, and will always, remain together. They have made the family very happy. I speak with them weekly, we have become good friends.

Cookie

Cookie is a Leopard Appaloosa. We were told she was in her 20's, but the dentist said she was only 13. She is now living with a teenage girl who rides her daily and takes her to ride in shows. A match made in heaven.

LuLu

LuLu is Belgian draft, she came to us in June '09 at eight years old. She went to live with a family that already had a draft and they wanted one more so the family could ride together. This family came out four times before she went to live with them and she formed a wonderful bond with them.

Stevie Sore’zell

Arrived 4-15-09, 16.2h thoroughbred dark bay stallion. Vet estimates that Sore'zell is 19 years old. As you can see by the third picture Sore'zell rapidly gained weight once his medical needs were addressed and he was getting plenty of good food and hay. Lucky Sore'zell is now living with a family in ???, as basically a pasture pet, which he just loves.

 Thunder Angel

Arrived 4-15-09, Angel is a 15.2h 14 year old Appaloosa/Arabian or Lipizzaner gelding.

Potato  Peanut

Here is an e-mail from his new Mom. "He stayed in the house the first night cause it was dark and raining when we got home. I put the baby gate up and he stayed in the laundry room. He's in the fence now and we got a sunshade canopy so he can get out of the rain until the stable is done, hopefully this weekend. I'm not sure which he doesn't like more getting wet or the sound of the rain on the canopy. It freaks him out. He seems to have made friends with the goose. But is afraid of the hog. She's sweet but BIG so I don't blame him. He thinks he is so handsome when he sees his reflection in the mirror or glass. He gets along well w/the dogs. We all take walks together. He does think he's boss and is a bit pushy w/me. I am still learning. We all love him very much."

5-14-09 Once Peanuts teeth and feet were corrected, and he got his coggins, he was ready to be placed. Peanut left today to live on five acres with a Great Dane and a big pig!

Peanut arrived 4-15-09 with three horses and three goats! This four year old miniature stallion weighed in at a petite 180 lbs.

As part of the Tax Day (4-15-09) rescue we also took in three goats. They were also kept in a small fenced area with no grass or green to eat. They were very boney, their hoofs were not done, and they were full of worms.

These guys have gone to live with a couple who just adore them.

Look at all that hair!

Sterling Silver

5-8-09, Sterling is a 16 year old retired lesson horse. This 16.3h Appendix gelding will now spend his retirement pleasure and trail riding.

Skier Sky Grazer

4-26-09, Sky has been adopted by Alexis as her first horse. He will stay here at 'ohana where both of them will continue to train. It will be fun to watch these two as he gains weight and trust and she explores the bonds of being a true horsewoman.

4-15-09, This TB gelding arrived underweight and in need of a ferrier and a dentist, but so far he has shown excellent ground manners and seems quite sensible. His tattoo says that he was born in 2001.

Knoxville

Knoxville, a Tennessee Walker, came to us at age six from a family that no longer had time for him. He had been living in a pasture for years.

4-24-09 Knoxville went to live with Nemo!

Nemo

Nemo, an Arabian mix, came to us at about 11 years of age because the girl was unable to keep him. Thank goodness she called because he was tied to a tree with rope and the rope had wrapped around his back hoofs and cut into his legs. After 6 months of rehabilitation, he went to live with a 14 yr old (third and fourth pictures) as his first horse.

Valor

Valor came to us from a wonderful elderly woman that was having financially difficulties. He came to stay with us for around six months. After his teeth and health issues were taken care of, and his moms situation improved, he was able to go back home.

Blaze

Blaze came to us because his owner was going into the service and couldn't find a home for him. His teeth were in horrible shape, they were waved, and one had a massive hole. After getting his teeth taken care of , he blossomed. He was with us about 6 months then was placed with a family in Bradenton.

Ringo

Ringo came to us because he was being boarded at a stable and his owners abandoned him. After his health issues were dealt with and some rehabilitation, he went to live with a family in Spring Hill as their daughters first horse.

Fudge

When we got the call to pick up Fudge, he was supposed to be a gelding, turned out he was a stud.  He was adopted out to a wonderful woman as a project horse. After some months of training he is doing wonderful.

Whiskey

Whiskey came to us a few months after her owner passed away. When the owner’s family brought her to us she was very thin, and in need of love. She was with us a short time, then adopted out to a gentleman that wanted a slow laid back horse for his rehabilitation. She is slow, and he had been told to slow down. They were a perfect match. He has updated me several times, and with each update, he is so pleased
